Parts/CPUs/AMD Opteron 6276 (Interlagos)
Why this part
Blue Waters used the same Interlagos generation as Titan but in a mixed configuration, with a large CPU-only partition alongside the accelerated one. NCSA had argued that a substantial share of real scientific software would not be ported to GPUs on any useful timescale, and built a machine that did not require it to be. That judgement has aged better than the hardware.

“Units recorded” sums only the edges where a public source states a quantity. It is a floor, not a total, and should never be read as installed base.
