JAEA SGI ICE X

Also known as JAEA SGI ICE X (CCSE, 2015); Japan Atomic Energy Agency ICE X

Operated by JAEA .

Phase 1 seed dataset, compiled by hand. These rows were built from public operator, laboratory and vendor sources. A mechanical second-reader pass has since fetched every cited source: 1263 of 1345 systems have a readable citation that names them, and 56 are genuinely weakly sourced. Every claim carries its source and a confidence tier. Treat anything below verified as a lead, not a citation.

What this machine is made of

One row per supplier relationship. “Supplier at build” is the company that shipped the part at the time; where that company has since been acquired, the parent it rolls up to today is shown beside it. That distinction is what makes ticker-level aggregation possible across a thirty-year dataset.

The read

SGI ICE X cluster of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency's computing centre. The SGI announcement of 30 June 2015 gives 2,510 nodes in 35 racks with Intel Xeon E5-2680 v3 processors (60,240 cores), about 157 TB of memory, a 2.4 PFlop/s theoretical peak (about twelve times the previous system), 4x FDR InfiniBand, about 5 PB of SGI InfiniteStorage 17500 on Lustre, and operation from November 2015. TOP500 independently lists 60,240 cores, 1.93 PFlop/s Rmax, 2.41 PFlop/s Rpeak and 3,012 kW, ranked 35th on the November 2015 list and last seen in November 2020. The previous JAEA system was the PRIMERGY BX900 cluster in this dataset. The machine room location is not stated on the pages fetched, so no site is recorded; status is held as of the last TOP500 appearance.

Source check

We fetched this system's own citations and recorded whether each page actually mentions it. This is a corroboration signal, not a fact check, and it is published so you can see how well the sourcing holds up rather than take it on trust.

One cited source was readable and does not mention this system; another could not be read because the host returned a bot challenge. The unreadable one may well be fine, so this is weaker evidence than a corroborated row and much stronger than an unsupported one. See how this check works.
