RIKEN 64-Qubit System
RIKEN 64-Qubit System is a superconducting circuits quantum computer operated by RIKEN in Japan. It has 64 physical qubits. It ranks 27 of 53 superconducting machines in this table by physical qubit count. 4 sourced specs are in the spec sheet. No benchmark figures are recorded for it yet.
Also known as RIKEN first domestic superconducting quantum computer
Japan's first domestically built superconducting quantum computer, put online on 27 March 2023 by RIKEN with AIST, NICT, Osaka University, Fujitsu and NTT, and offered as a cloud service for non-commercial research under joint research agreements with RIKEN. It is a different machine from the 64-qubit RIKEN Fujitsu system launched in October 2023 at the RIKEN RQC-Fujitsu Collaboration Center, which Fujitsu presents as a new system building on this machine's technology and which RIKEN names as the predecessor of riken-fujitsu-256; no separate row exists for that October 2023 machine. NICT's page does not name a physical installation site. The sources consulted give no fidelity figures and no later status update, so the status reflects the 2023 evidence.
Spec sheet
Technical details as the builder or a paper states them, each with its own source. A blank is a fact we could not source, not a zero. Fidelity and coherence figures are in the benchmark table below.
| Spec | Value | Basis | Note | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | 64-qubit superconducting chip on a 2 cm silicon die | Vendor reported | NICT describes 16 basic units of 4 qubits on a two-centimeter silicon chip. | origin-www.nict.go.jpriken.jp |
| Topology | 16 units of 4 qubits with two-dimensional integrated circuits and perpendicular wiring packages | Vendor reported | The coupling graph inside and between units is not given. | origin-www.nict.go.jpriken.jp |
| Cooling and environment | Dilution refrigerator at about minus 273 degrees C | Vendor reported | No millikelvin figure is stated. | origin-www.nict.go.jp |
| Access and pricing | Cloud service for non-commercial research under joint research agreements with RIKEN | Vendor reported | RIKEN said it was considering expanding access to international users. | origin-www.nict.go.jpriken.jp |
